THE AUTHOR

I am a best-selling author and former banker and marketing head with multinational organisations such as Citi, Aviva, and Santander. I left my corporate job at the helm of my career to spend my time doing what I love—travelling, writing, and mentoring start-ups.

I love to experiment with different writing genres. My debut work, Aisle Be Damned, a humour book on air travel, was a national bestseller in India. My second book, Job Be Damned, published by HarperCollins and described as “PG Wodehouse meets Dilbert”, was an acclaimed satire on corporate life. I then took my passion for writing in a different direction with my children’s travel series, Cities of Adventures. And my latest work, Three Pigs to Financial Freedom, aims to demystify financial planning and help beginners and the youth get started on the journey to financial freedom.

I have also created the satire platform, Damned.com, dormant temporarily but which has released several globally viral humour memes.

THE CORPORATE EXECUTIVE

In a nearly two-decade career, I have worked across the USA, Europe, and India with some of the world’s leading banks and organisations, including Citi, Aviva, and Santander.

I spent eight years with Citi, in USA and India, in leadership roles in wealth management, marketing, strategy, and insurance. As Senior Vice President, Citi India, I headed product and marketing for all retail liability products and customer segments, including Citigold Wealth Management. I ran various businesses and functions at Aviva India, a leading life insurance company, including marketing, bancassurance, and online channels. I have also had stints as the strategy head for consumer banking at Citi India, as a member of the international strategy team at Citigroup, New York, and with the Global Risk Management group at Banco Santander, Spain.

A creative marketer, I have won industry awards for innovative campaigns across traditional and digital channels. As a corporate strategy executive, I led various international expansion projects for Citigroup and Banco Santander based out of New York and Madrid, respectively.

THE MENTOR CAPITALIST

I am an angel investor in several start-ups and on the board of mentors at the Atal Incubation Center, set up by NITI Aayog, at NMIMS, Mumbai. I also speak at corporate forums, colleges and business schools and regularly feature in media on topics around careers, entrepreneurship, financial independence and early retirement. I pursue these activities through my Mumbai-based organisation, Imaginara Legacies Private Limited, which aims to create and support initiatives that will make a difference to the world around us.

I have an MBA from Cornell University, where I was also awarded the Entrepreneurship Award. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Rochester, a program in creative writing from the University of Cambridge and schooling at the Cathedral & John Connon School, Mumbai.
